About our victims

The victims of Eric Klein are my in-laws Gene and Pat.

They worked their entire life to have a comfortable retirement. They were on-track to build their “forever home” until Eric Klein used their money for other things.

There is a Colorado statute that says all monies given a contractor must be used on that project. Eric knew this. Eric admitted he could get into “big trouble” for using their money elsewhere, but he did it anyway… and admitted to it.

Listen to phone calls here.

Why did I create this website?

We want Eric held accountable for the money he embezzled from senior citizens. He has single-handedly ruined their retirement dreams. They did everything right. They asked for recommendations, they met with him in person. They signed a contract and he still walked away with their money. It’s been two years since they wrote him the first check and they still don’t have a home.

Toni Klein is just as responsible because she gave the recommendation to Jessica Nickell at RE/MAX Alliance in Fort Collins. Toni knew that Eric had been sued previously for the same thing, yet she helped him reel in more victims. Toni was also named as a defendant in one of the cases. She can claim she didn’t know, but she did.

Overall, the only thing we want back is simply every single dollar Eric stole and the extra money that cost our family when Eric G. Klein treated us as a bank. Gene and Pat took out a short term HELOC loan on their home which was supposed to be from November 2024 through August 2025 when their house was supposed to be finished. Eric knew this, yet he still used their money to pay for other things, which is highly illegal in the State of Colorado. We’ve also had to hire an attorney which has increased the financial hardship on our family. Not to mention, all of the subcontractors we had to pay so we could avoid having liens put on our home. Multiple liens. Multiple subcontractors, totaling tens of thousands of dollars.

House under construction with green exterior sheathing, attached garage, and trailer in a rocky rural landscape

1-17-26 No roof. No siding. No garage door.

3-14-26 Still no roof. This is me, at 54 years old, stapling down the tar paper.

3-26-26 We saved up all winter and finally put a roof on. Eric did not pay for this roof. We did.

Kari on a ladder caulking the house

5/9/26 We hosted a caulking party. It’s not as fun as it sounds. Our family came over to help us caulk the house. That’s my 83 year old father in law on a ladder. That’s me on the high ladder. I destroyed a knee caulking this house. Seriously. My left knee has not been the same since climbing the ladder so much to caulk this house.

11/1/26 We saved up all summer for paint and the house was finally painted about 2 weeks ago. Imagine how hard it is to save for everything twice. We’ve paid for most things twice because Eric Klein took the money from my in-laws.

We still need to put stone on the bottom part of the house, but that’s going to have to wait until we save up another thousand dollars. We will also figure out how to add the stone ourselves, because we can’t afford to hire it out.
